Mohammed Kudus: Tottenham’s New Midfield Maestro And Premier League Dribble King
Mohammed Kudus is quickly proving why Tottenham Hotspur splashed £55 million to bring him from West Ham this summer. The Ghanaian international is not just fitting in — he’s running the show.
After racking up four Premier League assists, Kudus finally got his first Spurs goal, striking the winner in a 2-1 victory over Leeds at Elland Road. It was the moment every Spurs fan had been waiting for.
A Goal At Last
Manager Thomas Frank summed it up perfectly:
“It was about time, wasn’t it? He’s been our best offensive player so far.”
Kudus had already been pulling the strings in midfield, creating chance after chance, but that breakthrough goal added the finishing touch to his strong start in north London. His neat through ball for Mathys Tel’s opener and his composed finish later in the game proved just how vital he has become.
Even Wayne Rooney had to admit on Match of the Day:
“He already had a few assists but was missing that goal — and he’s got it now.”
Spurs’ Summer Gamble Paying Off
Tottenham spent big this summer, backing Frank with signings like Xavi Simons, Mathys Tel, Kevin Danso, and Kudus. But it’s the Ghanaian midfielder who looks the best of the lot.
With James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski battling injuries, Spurs desperately needed creativity. Kudus stepped in, playing almost every minute of the season so far, creating 13 league chances — only behind Jack Grealish, Bruno Fernandes, and Anton Stach.
Dribble King Of The Premier League
If there’s one stat that shows Kudus’ brilliance, it’s his dribbling. Against Leeds, he completed all six of his dribbles, the best 100% record by a Spurs player since Tanguy Ndombele in 2021.
Across the season, he has:
-
57 attempted dribbles (most in the league)
-
30 successful dribbles (best in the league)
-
13 chances created (4th-best in the league)
That’s why pundits like Alan Shearer are calling him “a real threat” and “a brilliant addition.”
Spurs’ New Star
Kudus isn’t just numbers. His style — the confidence on the ball, the agility to weave past defenders, and the strength to hold play — makes him Spurs’ most exciting player right now.
And with five goal involvements already (1 goal, 4 assists), he’s second only to Erling Haaland and Antoine Semenyo for overall impact this season.
Tottenham wanted a player who could transform their midfield. In Kudus, they’ve found more than that — they’ve found a leader, a creator, and a game-changer.
