Michael Olise And Khvicha Kvaratskhelia Tipped As Dream Liverpool Signings Amid Budget Concerns
Liverpool could be set for one of their biggest summer rebuilds in years as life after Mohamed Salah officially begins at Anfield. While exciting names like Michael Olise and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia continue to dominate transfer rumours, former Reds defender John Arne Riise believes the club may not have the financial power to pull off such blockbuster deals this summer.
The Merseyside giants are entering a new era following the emotional departure of Salah, who leaves behind an incredible legacy after scoring 257 goals for the club. Andy Robertson is also moving on, while uncertainty continues to surround several key stars including Alisson Becker, Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister, Curtis Jones and Ibrahima Konate.
With so many experienced players potentially leaving, Liverpool fans are expecting major reinforcements. However, Riise believes the club’s massive spending spree in 2025 may force the recruitment team to be more cautious this time around.
Speaking about potential dream signings, the former Liverpool left-back admitted that both Olise and Kvaratskhelia would be sensational additions for Arne Slot’s squad.
According to Riise, both players possess the creativity, flair and attacking quality needed to help Liverpool remain one of Europe’s elite sides after Salah’s departure. Yet he also questioned whether the Reds can afford another summer of huge spending after already smashing transfer records last year.
Liverpool’s attack is clearly entering a transition phase. Salah’s exit leaves an enormous gap on the right wing, and replacing a player of his consistency and world-class output will not be easy. Olise has emerged as one of Europe’s most exciting wide forwards thanks to his performances in the Bundesliga, while Kvaratskhelia continues to shine as one of the most dangerous attacking players in Ligue 1.
Both players would instantly excite supporters, but Riise believes Liverpool’s recruitment strategy could instead focus on players who fit the system rather than simply chasing expensive superstar names.
The former defender also challenged some current Liverpool players to improve their performances after an inconsistent campaign. Riise suggested that several members of the squad became too comfortable in their positions, leading to a noticeable drop in standards throughout the season.
While fans debate potential big-money arrivals, one youngster already making headlines is Rio Ngumoha. The 17-year-old academy sensation impressed with two senior goals last season and is viewed by many as one of Liverpool’s brightest future stars.
Riise believes Ngumoha should remain at Liverpool rather than head out on loan, insisting the teenager needs time to develop gradually within the first team environment. However, he also warned supporters not to place the burden of replacing Salah on such young shoulders too soon.
According to the Norwegian, Ngumoha is talented enough to earn more minutes next season, but his body and development still require careful management. Riise expects the teenager to feature more regularly while continuing to build his fitness and consistency at elite level.
Liverpool’s upcoming transfer window is shaping up to be one of the most fascinating in recent memory. Between replacing club legends, reshaping the squad and balancing financial realities, Arne Slot faces enormous pressure heading into the new campaign.
Whether the Reds can truly compete for marquee stars like Olise and Kvaratskhelia remains uncertain, but one thing is clear — Liverpool’s summer rebuild could define the club’s future for years to come.
