Jamie Carragher Calls For Arne Slot Sacking After Liverpool’s Humiliating PSV Defeat
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has expressed his fury following the Reds’ 4-1 defeat to PSV Eindhoven in the UEFA Champions League, suggesting that manager Arne Slot’s position is “untenable” if the current form continues.
The former defender was particularly critical of defender Ibrahima Konate, stating that Slot should be sacked for repeatedly picking him despite a series of errors this season. In his candid, X-rated rant, Carragher said, “Honest to god, I’ve had enough of them. That Konate, I mean, that’s a sackable offence for the manager for f******g keep picking him. He should be sacked for that.”
While Carragher clarified that Liverpool is historically not a sacking club and that Slot shouldn’t be dismissed just yet, he stressed that the Dutch manager is under significant pressure. He noted that senior players like Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah are not performing at their usual standards, placing the responsibility on less high-profile players to step up during this challenging run.
Carragher added, “Liverpool have never sacked a manager who’s won the league… but it does get to a stage with any manager at any club where I always use this word untenable, where it almost feels like it can’t go on any longer.”
The Reds’ latest result marks their ninth loss in 12 games across all competitions, leaving fans anxious about the team’s ability to turn the season around. Slot now faces mounting pressure to restore confidence and deliver positive results.
