Newcastle United manager Matthias Jaissle has firmly rejected suggestions that Lewis Hall could join Manchester United this summer, insisting there is “no chance” of the young defender leaving St James’ Park.

Manchester United are searching for defensive reinforcements after a disappointing start to the new Premier League campaign, with Hall reportedly identified as a potential long-term replacement for Luke Shaw.

However, Newcastle appear determined to keep hold of the 21-year-old despite growing interest from Old Trafford.

Manchester United’s need for defensive reinforcements has become increasingly obvious following their 2-0 defeat to Hull City on the opening weekend.
