Fabrizio Romano Reveals Chelsea’s Next Move for Alex Scott

Fabrizio Romano Reveals Chelsea’s Next Move for Alex Scott

Chelsea could return to the negotiating table for Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott, with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano suggesting the Blues may make another move for the England international in 2027.

Chelsea have reportedly maintained their interest in Scott after failing to secure the midfielder during the summer transfer window.

The 23-year-old has continued to impress on the south coast, with his performances earning him recognition at international level and reportedly strengthening Chelsea’s belief that he could be an ideal addition to their midfield.

Chelsea Still Have Alex Scott in Their Plans

Chelsea’s interest in Scott is nothing new.

The Blues reportedly made a £60 million offer for the midfielder during the summer, but Bournemouth rejected the approach.

Despite the failed bid, Romano says Chelsea have not abandoned their pursuit.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano explained that Chelsea continue to view Scott as a particularly attractive target because of his technical ability, age and status as an English homegrown player.

“Chelsea have Alex Scott in mind. Chelsea consider Alex Scott as a target.”

Romano added that Chelsea believe the midfielder could be an ideal addition to their squad and revealed that the club remains in contact with people close to the player.

The comments suggest Chelsea’s recruitment team could be preparing for another attempt once the January transfer window opens.

Chelsea Could Make a Fresh Bid

While there has been speculation that Chelsea might wait until the end of the season before making another approach, Romano believes a new bid could arrive sooner.

The transfer insider said he would not be surprised if Chelsea return with an official offer next year.

That possibility could put Bournemouth in a difficult position.

Scott’s current contract reportedly runs until 2028, meaning Bournemouth are under no immediate pressure to sell. However, Chelsea’s continued interest could test the club’s resolve if a substantial offer arrives.

Liverpool and Arsenal Also Monitoring Scott

Chelsea are not the only major Premier League club to have identified Scott as a potential target.

According to Romano, Liverpool have maintained contact with people close to the midfielder, although the club did not make an official bid during the summer.

Arsenal have also shown interest in Scott, although their pursuit is reportedly less advanced at this stage.

With several Premier League giants monitoring his situation, Scott’s performances for Bournemouth could have a significant impact on his future market value.

Stamford Bridge Could Become Scott’s Audition

Interestingly, Scott will have the opportunity to impress Chelsea’s coaching staff directly when Bournemouth travel to Stamford Bridge.

The fixture gives the midfielder an unusual opportunity to showcase his qualities against the club that reportedly wanted to sign him during the previous transfer window.

Scott arrives at the match with his reputation growing following his recent involvement with England.

His development has been particularly impressive since joining Bournemouth, and another strong performance against Chelsea could only increase speculation surrounding his future.

Could Scott Eventually Replace Enzo Fernández?

Chelsea’s interest in Scott also raises questions about the long-term structure of their midfield.

The Englishman is reportedly viewed as a potential option who could eventually compete for a central role alongside or in place of Enzo Fernández, depending on how the squad develops under head coach Xabi Alonso.

Scott’s versatility, technical quality and homegrown status make him an attractive proposition for Chelsea’s long-term recruitment strategy.

At just 23, he would also fit the club’s preference for signing players who can develop and contribute over several seasons.

A Transfer Battle to Watch

For Bournemouth, the priority will be keeping one of their most important midfielders and continuing their progress in the Premier League.

For Chelsea, Scott represents a potential solution to their midfield planning.

And with Liverpool and Arsenal also reportedly monitoring the situation, the battle for his signature could become one of the more intriguing Premier League transfer stories to follow.

One thing appears clear: Chelsea have not forgotten about Alex Scott. If Romano’s prediction proves correct, Bournemouth could soon receive another call from Stamford Bridge.
