João Pedro Equals Didier Drogba’s Debut Chelsea Record After Aston Villa Hat-Trick

João Pedro celebrating his hat-trick for Chelsea against Aston Villa

João Pedro is on the verge of surpassing a remarkable debut-season milestone set by Didier Drogba after another sensational performance for Chelsea F.C..

The Brazilian forward produced a stunning hat-trick in Chelsea’s 4–1 comeback victory over Aston Villa F.C., equalling Drogba’s debut-season goal tally and reinforcing his growing reputation at Stamford Bridge.

Hat-trick Heroics Power Chelsea Comeback

Villa took an early lead through Douglas Luiz, putting Chelsea under pressure in front of their home crowd.

However, Pedro quickly sparked the turnaround when he tapped in a low cross from Malo Gusto to level the score.

The Brazilian then produced a moment of brilliance just before halftime, delicately chipping the ball over goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez to give Chelsea the lead.

After the break, Pedro completed his hat-trick following a slick attacking move involving Cole Palmer and Alejandro Garnacho, sealing an emphatic win for the Blues after their defeat to Arsenal F.C. the previous weekend.

Drogba Milestone Matched

Pedro’s latest performance takes his tally to 16 goals in all competitions, including 14 in the Premier League.

That total matches the number Drogba scored in his first season at Chelsea, when the club legend recorded 16 goals in 41 appearances during the 2004–05 campaign.

Pedro has reached the same figure in just 38 matches, with several fixtures still remaining this season.

Costa’s Record in Sight

If his current scoring run continues, Pedro could soon eclipse the club’s best debut-season goal record set by Diego Costa, who scored 20 goals in his first campaign with Chelsea.

With Chelsea pushing for a top-four finish, the Brazilian striker’s form could prove decisive in the closing weeks of the season.

Should he maintain this momentum, Stamford Bridge may already have discovered its next great No. 9.
