Liverpool Set €10 Million Price Tag On Federico Chiesa As Juventus Explore Shock January Return
Liverpool have reportedly informed Juventus that re-signing Federico Chiesa in the January transfer window would cost around €10 million (£8.3m), as the Premier League side looks to cut losses on the Italian winger.
Chiesa, 28, has struggled to secure consistent minutes at Anfield under Arne Slot, despite flashes of brilliance and becoming a popular figure in the dressing room. Having moved from Juventus just 18 months ago, the former Serie A star is keen to regain regular football, especially with the World Cup looming.
The Price Of A Return
The €10m valuation reportedly reflects the remaining book value of Chiesa, who signed for a reported €15m on a four-year deal. Selling him now would allow Liverpool to make a clean financial break without recording a capital loss.
Unlike the Italian winter transfer habit of “loan with option to buy,” Liverpool are said to prefer a permanent deal, or at minimum, a loan with an obligation to buy. The club views Chiesa as a valuable asset who simply hasn’t fit into the starting XI as hoped, rather than a player to temporarily offload.
A Cult Hero Seeking Minutes
During his time at Liverpool, Chiesa has developed a cult following for his high-energy style and commitment, contributing to the squad even if his individual statistics weren’t outstanding. Yet, competition from Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo, Florian Wirtz, and Jeremie Frimpong has limited his opportunities.
At 28, Chiesa is entering his prime and needs consistent playing time to maintain form. A return to Juventus could offer the continuity he needs, while providing the Old Lady with a familiar attacking spark.
Whether Juventus are willing to meet Liverpool’s terms remains to be seen, but the saga highlights a rare opportunity for the Italian winger to reignite his career in a familiar setting.
