A familiar challenge awaits Mourinho

Mourinho now returns to a club where he previously enjoyed one of the most successful periods of his managerial career.

During his first spell at Real Madrid between 2010 and 2013, he won La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup while ending Barcelona’s dominance of Spanish football.

The move represents another high-profile chapter in the career of one of the sport’s most decorated managers as he looks to restore Real Madrid to the summit of European football.

Real Madrid part ways with Arbeloa

To pave the way for Mourinho’s arrival, Real Madrid confirmed the departure of head coach Alvaro Arbeloa earlier this week.
