Premier League Player Of The Year 2025-26: Declan Rice Beats Bruno Fernandes In GOAL’s Top 50 Rankings
The 2025-26 Premier League season delivered drama from start to finish, and now the spotlight has shifted to the stars who defined the campaign. From Arsenal’s title-winning heroes to Manchester United’s creative masterminds and Manchester City’s relentless goal machines, GOAL’s top 50 player rankings have sparked major debate among football fans worldwide.
At the very top of the list stands Declan Rice, whose incredible performances helped Arsenal finally reclaim the Premier League crown after more than two decades of waiting. The England midfielder was the engine behind Mikel Arteta’s side, combining leadership, defensive dominance and attacking quality throughout the season.
Rice edged out Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes, who enjoyed a sensational campaign despite criticism earlier in the year. Fernandes broke the Premier League assist record with 21 assists and carried United back into the Champions League places with several match-winning displays.
Erling Haaland also featured prominently after another ruthless season in front of goal for Manchester City. Even though Pep Guardiola’s side narrowly missed out on the title, the Norwegian striker remained one of the league’s most feared attackers.
Arsenal’s dominance in the rankings was impossible to ignore. Goalkeeper David Raya, defenders William Saliba and Jurrien Timber, as well as Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Magalhaes, all earned recognition after helping the Gunners build the league’s strongest defensive unit.
Liverpool stars also remained among the elite despite a season filled with uncertainty over the futures of Mohamed Salah, Dominik Szoboszlai and Alisson Becker. Salah’s departure from Anfield marks the end of an unforgettable era, while youngsters like Rio Ngumoha are now being tipped as part of the club’s future.
Elsewhere, Aston Villa, Newcastle, Brentford, Brighton and Leeds all had players included in the rankings, highlighting the growing competitiveness across the Premier League. Morgan Rogers, Bryan Mbeumo, Joao Pedro and Ethan Ampadu were among the breakout stars who impressed throughout the campaign.
One of the biggest talking points remains Bruno Fernandes’ rise from heavily criticised captain to one of the league’s most productive players. The Portuguese playmaker silenced doubters with record-breaking creativity and leadership during crucial moments of Manchester United’s season.
Meanwhile, Arsenal’s title triumph was built on consistency, resilience and mentality. Arteta recently revealed that even a defeat to Manchester City at the Etihad convinced him his side were capable of becoming champions — a belief that ultimately proved correct.
With the 2026 World Cup approaching, many of these stars will now aim to carry their club form onto the international stage. Fans can expect fierce competition for individual honours once again next season as the Premier League continues to showcase some of the best football talent on the planet.
