Cristiano Ronaldo backed for Hollywood career after retirement as Mikael Silvestre says: “If Vinnie Jones can become an actor, so can CR7”

Cristiano Ronaldo has been tipped to pursue a successful Hollywood career once he finally brings the curtain down on his legendary playing career, with former Manchester United teammate Mikael Silvestre insisting the Portuguese icon has everything needed to thrive on the big screen.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner remains fully focused on football for now, but Silvestre believes acting—not football club ownership—could become Ronaldo’s next major chapter.

Ronaldo still chasing football history

Despite turning 41, Ronaldo continues to compete at the highest level with Saudi Pro League champions Al-Nassr after signing one of the most lucrative contracts in football history.

The Portugal captain still has several major milestones to chase before retirement.

Chief among them is becoming the first player to score 1,000 competitive career goals, while the possibility of sharing the pitch with his eldest son, Cristiano Junior, remains another personal ambition.

Ronaldo has also shown no intention of stepping away from international football, with Euro 2028 and Portugal’s home World Cup in 2030 still realistic targets should he continue his remarkable longevity.

Hollywood could be the next destination

Whenever Ronaldo eventually retires, a move to the United States has long been viewed as a realistic possibility.

Such a switch could see him reignite his iconic rivalry with Lionel Messi in Major League Soccer while simultaneously opening the door to opportunities in Hollywood.

The Portuguese superstar has already expanded into the entertainment industry by launching his own film studio, demonstrating his ambition beyond football.

With his global popularity, commercial appeal and enormous social media following, Ronaldo is widely regarded as someone capable of attracting audiences far beyond the sporting world.

Silvestre: Ronaldo can conquer acting

Speaking to GOAL in association with BetVictor Online Casino, former Manchester United defender Mikael Silvestre expressed complete confidence that Ronaldo could make a successful transition into acting.

“I think the sky is the limit for him,” Silvestre said.

“Everything that he touches or invests himself in becomes a successful business.

“I think he mentioned becoming an actor a while back when he was at the Dubai awards. He said he would want to become an actor. I think that’s his next move.

“If Vinnie Jones can become an actor, a good-looking guy like Cristiano for sure can do the job.”

Could Ronaldo one day win an Oscar?

Former France midfielder Emmanuel Petit also believes Ronaldo possesses the charisma and mentality needed to succeed in Hollywood.

Petit questioned why more elite athletes do not transition into acting after retirement, pointing to former footballers such as Eric Cantona, Vinnie Jones, David Ginola and Frank Leboeuf as successful examples.

“I’m happy for Ronaldo,” Petit previously said.

“I think he has the charisma and the aura.

“Ronaldo is the most famous person on social networks. Can you imagine if he was in the middle of big Hollywood stars? He would have nothing to prove to those guys.”

Petit even suggested that Ronaldo’s remarkable life story is worthy of a major film adaptation.

“The Oscars? One day. Honestly, you can make a movie on his life.

“I have never seen someone stronger than him mentally. This guy is the most powerful human being I’ve ever seen mentally.”

Retirement can wait

For now, however, Ronaldo’s focus remains firmly on football.

The Al-Nassr captain continues to chase more goals, more trophies and more records, with retirement still appearing to be some distance away.

Whenever that day finally arrives, though, Hollywood may prove to be the next stage for one of football’s greatest-ever icons.
