Barcelona submit official Karim Adeyemi bid as Dortmund winger agrees personal terms

Barcelona have stepped up their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund winger Karim Adeyemi by submitting an official offer for the Germany international after reportedly reaching an agreement on personal terms.

The 24-year-old is said to have informed Dortmund of his desire to leave this summer after contract extension talks failed to produce an agreement.

Barcelona make official approach

According to Sky Sport, Barcelona have formally opened negotiations with Borussia Dortmund after securing Adeyemi’s commitment to join the club.

The German forward has reportedly agreed a long-term contract in principle with the La Liga champions, leaving the two clubs to negotiate a transfer fee.

Dortmund are understood to value Adeyemi at around €40 million as they look to avoid losing one of their key attacking players at a reduced price in the future.

Flick identifies Adeyemi as key target

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick is believed to be driving the move, having previously worked with Adeyemi during his time with the German national team.

The Blaugrana boss reportedly sees the pacey winger as an ideal addition to his high-intensity attacking system.

Adeyemi’s ability to operate across the front three would also provide valuable competition alongside stars such as Lamine Yamal and Raphinha.

Jorge Mendes helps revive transfer

Super-agent Jorge Mendes has also played a significant role in the negotiations.

The Portuguese representative has previously offered Adeyemi to Barcelona, but the club’s financial difficulties prevented any deal from progressing.

With Barcelona now in a stronger position to negotiate, the transfer has gathered fresh momentum.

Alvarez pursuit remains unchanged

Barcelona’s move for Adeyemi is not expected to affect their plans to strengthen at centre-forward.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Catalan giants remain determined to sign Julian Alvarez, who continues to be their preferred option to lead the attack.

The club’s interest in the Argentine dates back several months, with Barcelona still hoping to add a prolific number nine alongside reinforcing the wide attacking positions this summer.
