Raphinha Backs Himself And Vinicius Junior To Lead Brazil To Historic Sixth World Cup Title

Raphinha and Vinicius Junior training with Brazil ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Raphinha has expressed strong belief that he and Vinícius Júnior can inspire Brazil national football team to a historic sixth FIFA World Cup title.

With pressure continuing to grow on the Seleção after more than two decades without lifting football’s biggest trophy, Brazil’s new generation of attacking stars are now expected to carry the nation’s hopes.

Brazil Chasing Long-Awaited Glory

Brazil last won the World Cup in 2002.

Since then, the South American giants have endured repeated disappointment on the global stage, reaching the semi-finals only once across the last five tournaments.

That painful history has placed enormous expectations on the current squad heading into the 2026 World Cup.

And with Neymar sidelined through injury, much of Brazil’s attacking creativity and goalscoring burden now rests on the shoulders of Vinicius Junior and Raphinha.

Raphinha Backs Vinicius To Shine

Despite representing fierce rivals FC Barcelona and Real Madrid C.F. at club level, Raphinha made it clear that he fully trusts Vinicius to deliver on football’s biggest stage.

“Vini is young, but with his experience and achievements, he can decide a World Cup match and bring home the sixth championship,” Raphinha said.

“I include myself in that group.”

The statement highlights the growing leadership role both players are beginning to assume within the national team setup.

Impressive Individual Seasons

Although Real Madrid ended the 2025/26 campaign without a major trophy, Vinicius still produced impressive numbers.

The winger scored 22 goals in 53 appearances across all competitions and remained one of Europe’s most dangerous attacking players.

Raphinha also enjoyed a brilliant campaign with Barcelona despite battling injury setbacks during the season.

The Brazilian forward scored 21 goals in just 33 appearances, further cementing his importance for both club and country.

Defensive Discipline Key For Brazil

While Brazil’s attacking quality often grabs headlines, Raphinha stressed that defensive organisation could ultimately decide their World Cup fate.

“We arrive very well prepared,” he explained.

“We have to train the defensive part a lot. If we defend well, the possibility of winning is very big.”

The winger also warned about the unforgiving nature of tournament football.

“This competition is short and treacherous,” he added.

“We are trying to adapt and arrive as best as possible so as not to make mistakes.”

Ancelotti Ready To Begin Brazil Journey

Under Carlo Ancelotti, Brazil will begin their World Cup campaign against Morocco national football team in Group C.

The Seleção will then face:

  • Haiti national football team
  • Scotland national football team

With a blend of elite attacking talent, experienced leadership, and growing belief within the squad, Brazil will hope this generation can finally deliver the country’s long-awaited sixth world title.
