Arsenal’s long-awaited Premier League title celebration has now spilled onto social media, with a viral Manchester City supporter becoming the latest talking point after the Gunners finally ended their 22-year wait for league glory.
Tal Rehman, the City fan who became famous earlier this season for pretending to collect Arsenal fans’ “tears” in a bottle, has now responded after several Arsenal stars appeared to mock him following their title triumph.
The moment instantly became one of the season’s biggest viral football memes, especially as Arsenal were once again accused of “bottling” the title race during the closing months of the campaign. But this time, Mikel Arteta’s side had the final laugh.
After Manchester City failed to beat Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium, Arsenal officially secured their first Premier League crown since the legendary Invincibles era of 2004.
The celebrations came quickly — both on and off the pitch.
Defender Gabriel Magalhaes posted a split-image on Instagram comparing Rehman’s reactions during different stages of the title race, alongside the cheeky caption: “Think too much?”
Meanwhile, Bukayo Saka and youngster Myles Lewis-Skelly joined the fun in a dressing-room celebration video, joking about the “bottlers” tag while holding champagne bottles.
For Arsenal fans, it was the perfect way to silence years of criticism after narrowly missing out on the title in previous campaigns against Pep Guardiola’s dominant Manchester City side.
Rather than reacting angrily, Rehman took the jokes in good spirit and sent a classy message to Arsenal’s players and supporters.
Speaking to talkSPORT, he admitted the original stunt was never meant to be taken so seriously.
“Listen guys, enjoy it. It’s took you 22 years to win a championship, or become league champions,” he said.
“Honestly, I’m not bitter about it. It was a joke that you guys have taken to the next extreme.”
The City supporter even joked about Arsenal potentially winning the Champions League next season.
“If you defend it, great. And if you win the Champions League, I may have to move to the moon,” he laughed.
His response has actually earned praise from many football fans online, with supporters appreciating the humour and sportsmanship after a fiercely competitive title race.
For years, Arsenal were labelled as nearly-men under Arteta, finishing second behind Manchester City in three consecutive Premier League seasons.
This campaign, however, felt different.
The Gunners showed resilience, maturity, and consistency throughout the year, eventually outlasting Pep Guardiola’s side to reclaim the crown and write a new chapter in the club’s history.
And now, even the viral memes are coming back around in Arsenal’s favour.
One thing is certain — football fans will not forget the famous “bottle” gesture anytime soon.
