Cole Palmer Admits He Hasn’t Been Fully Fit All Season Despite Hat-Trick Heroics Against Wolves
Chelsea talisman Cole Palmer has revealed he has been playing through injury for much of the season, despite producing a sensational match-winning hat-trick in the Blues’ emphatic victory over Wolves.
The England international delivered a ruthless performance at Stamford Bridge, but his post-match admission has sent a chilling warning to the rest of the Premier League: this isn’t even him at full capacity yet.
Hat-Trick Hero Leads Chelsea’s Perfect Run
Palmer was simply unplayable on Saturday as Chelsea cruised past Wolves, securing a fourth consecutive Premier League win under new head coach Liam Rosenior.
The 23-year-old:
-
converted two ice-cold penalties
-
added a composed open-play finish
-
dictated the tempo of the game from advanced areas
His performance underlined why he has become Chelsea’s undisputed talisman and the focal point of Rosenior’s early success at the club.
A Stunning Admission After The Applause
While fans celebrated another Palmer masterclass, the forward revealed a far less glamorous reality behind the scenes.
Asked if he was finally back to full fitness, Palmer was brutally honest.
“I don’t think just yet. Obviously people don’t know what goes on behind the scenes, but being injured the whole season is not ideal,” he admitted.
He went on to explain that he has been managing pain and fitness limitations all season, impacting his ability to consistently perform at the level he knows he can reach.
“When I’m not able to perform as I want to, it’s because I’ve been injured and I’m still dealing with it. Hopefully I can get over it soon by managing it.”
Still Delivering While Compromised
What makes Palmer’s revelation remarkable is how little it shows on the pitch.
Despite not being 100% fit:
-
he remains Chelsea’s most decisive player
-
continues to deliver goals in big moments
-
carries the creative burden with maturity beyond his years
Even the interviewer highlighted how frightening it is that Palmer can produce elite finishing while physically limited.
Palmer agreed.
“Not being at full fitness is not ideal, but I still feel like I can help the team. When I get back to full fitness, I feel like I can go to another level.”
A Warning To The Premier League
If a half-fit Cole Palmer can dominate Premier League matches and score hat-tricks, the thought of him reaching peak physical condition should worry every defence in the league.
Under Liam Rosenior’s guidance, Chelsea appear revitalised — and when Palmer finally shakes off his injury issues, the Blues may have an even more devastating weapon at their disposal.

Bilic returns to the national team after more than a decade away, ending a two-year absence from management as he begins a second spell in charge of his country. ## Bilic begins a second spell with Croatia The Croatian Football Federation (HNS) announced Bilic’s appointment after the Executive Committee unanimously approved the recommendation of federation president Marijan Kustic. Bilic previously managed Croatia between 2006 and 2012, guiding the national team through two European Championships before embarking on a successful club coaching career that included spells with West Ham United, West Bromwich Albion, Besiktas and Al-Ittihad. The federation believes his experience and deep understanding of Croatian football make him the ideal candidate to lead the next generation. ## Huge task replacing Zlatko Dalic Bilic succeeds one of the most successful managers in Croatia’s history. Dalic stepped down after the 2026 World Cup, bringing an end to a remarkable tenure that included a World Cup final, a World Cup semi-final and several memorable tournament campaigns. Federation president Marijan Kustic acknowledged the size of the challenge but expressed complete confidence in Bilic. > “I would like to once again thank Zlatko for the exceptional results he achieved during his tenure. It is not easy to follow in his footsteps, but we are convinced Slaven is the right person for this role.” Kustic added that Bilic’s international pedigree and extensive coaching experience were decisive factors behind the appointment. ## Bilic honoured to return Bilic described his return as the greatest honour of his coaching career and admitted he understands the expectations that come with leading one of international football’s most consistent tournament teams. > “I would like to thank President Kustic and the Federation’s leadership for the confidence they have shown in allowing me to lead the Croatian national team once again — the greatest honour for any Croatian coach.” The 57-year-old also praised the standards established under Dalic while insisting he is ready for the responsibility. > “I am fully aware of the high expectations that follow such a remarkable period under Zlatko Dalic, but anyone who takes charge of Croatia must be prepared for that because we are a football nation that lives and breathes its national team.” ## A new chapter begins Bilic now faces the task of building on Dalic’s legacy while preparing Croatia for the next international cycle. With a blend of experienced stars and emerging young talent at his disposal, Croatia will hope their returning manager can guide them to another successful era on the international stage.
