Trabzonspor Open Talks With Lazio Over Super Eagles Midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru
Turkish giants Trabzonspor have opened discussions with Lazio over a potential move for Nigerian international midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, as interest in the 24-year-old continues to grow across Europe.
The Super Eagles star has emerged as one of the most sought-after Nigerian midfielders this transfer window, with clubs from Turkey and England closely tracking his situation.
Trabzonspor Make First Move
According to reports, Trabzonspor have made initial contact with Lazio to understand the framework of a possible deal. While no official bid has been submitted yet, the Turkish Super Lig side are believed to be assessing the financial and sporting conditions required to prise Dele-Bashiru away from Rome.
The talks are still at an exploratory stage, but Trabzonspor’s approach signals serious intent as they look to strengthen their midfield ahead of the new season.
Lazio Set €15–20 Million Valuation
Lazio are reportedly holding out for a fee between €15 million and €20 million, despite Dele-Bashiru’s current market value being estimated at around €6.5 million.
The Serie A club’s valuation reflects several key factors:
-
His versatility across multiple midfield roles
-
His athleticism and work rate
-
A long-term contract running until June 2028, which gives Lazio strong negotiating leverage
The Italian side see Dele-Bashiru as a valuable asset and are under no immediate pressure to sell unless their price is met.
Premier League Clubs Monitoring Closely
Trabzonspor are not alone in the race. Nottingham Forest and Sunderland have also been linked with the Nigerian midfielder, with both Premier League and Championship sides reportedly monitoring his progress closely.
A return to England would be familiar territory for Dele-Bashiru, who previously developed within the English football system, making the Premier League interest particularly compelling.
Decision Time Approaching For Lazio
While negotiations remain preliminary, the growing list of suitors could soon force Lazio into a decision—either commit fully to Dele-Bashiru as a core squad member or cash in should a suitable offer arrive.
With multiple clubs circling and the summer window heating up, Dele-Bashiru’s future is shaping up to be one of the most intriguing transfer stories involving a Super Eagles midfielder.
