AFCON 2025
Samuel Chukwueze: Super Eagles Calm, Focused And Ready To Fight For AFCON Glory
The message from the Super Eagles camp is loud, clear, and confident — Nigeria are here to win the Africa Cup of Nations.
Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze has declared that the team is mentally prepared, united, and fully locked in on their AFCON 2025 mission ahead of Monday’s Round of 16 showdown with Mozambique.
Calm Minds, One Goal
Nigeria enter the knockout stages as one of the tournament’s most convincing sides after a flawless group-stage run that saw them defeat Tanzania, Tunisia, and Uganda.
Chukwueze, who has been one of Nigeria’s brightest sparks so far, played a key role in the 3–1 win over Uganda, providing two assists in a dominant display.
Speaking ahead of the Mozambique clash, the Fulham winger stressed that the Super Eagles are not distracted by hype or pressure.
“We are very calm and we know we are ready to face any team,” Chukwueze said.
“The players from the bench, everybody is ready to give everything. It doesn’t matter who will play.”
Squad Depth Driving Nigeria’s Confidence
One of Nigeria’s biggest strengths at AFCON 2025 has been squad depth, with rotated line-ups still delivering top-level performances. Chukwueze believes this unity and readiness across the squad is fueling their title push.
“You can see in the last three games the team is ready to push to our goal, which is the AFCON title,” he added.
It’s a mindset that mirrors head coach Eric Chelle’s emphasis on training performance, collective responsibility, and tactical discipline over individual reputation.
Mozambique Await, But Eyes On The Bigger Prize
While Mozambique are enjoying a historic first-ever AFCON knockout appearance, Nigeria remain clear favourites heading into the Round of 16 clash.
For the Super Eagles, the objective is simple: maintain momentum and chase a fourth continental crown.
With calm heads, competition for places, and belief flowing through the squad, Chukwueze’s words reflect a team that understands the stakes — and is ready to deliver.
