Akor Adams Expresses Frustration After Sevilla’s Derby Defeat To Real Betis
Akor Adams did not hide his frustration after Sevilla fell 2-0 to fierce rivals Real Betis in Sunday’s heated La Liga derby. The Super Eagles forward, who started and completed the full match, described the defeat as a “slap in the face” for the team.
Sevilla struggled to make their dominance count at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán. Adams managed two shots on target and came close to scoring in the 78th minute. After rounding the Betis goalkeeper, his effort seemed destined for the net until a Betis defender made a desperate block to keep it out.
Adams Not Happy With The Result
Speaking after the match, the Nigerian striker expressed deep disappointment with the performance and the result.
“I’m not happy. It’s not just the defeat, but the way it happened. It’s a tough feeling,” Adams said. “There are no excuses. We have to work hard. I think we played a good first half.”
The loss keeps Sevilla in 13th place with 16 points from 14 matches—an underwhelming return for a team that has now recorded eight defeats this season.
Tough Spell, But Adams Keeps Pushing
Although Adams has endured a difficult stretch since joining Sevilla, he has contributed two goals and one assist so far. The 23-year-old will be looking to regain confidence as Sevilla prepare for their Copa del Rey clash against Extremadura.
For Adams, the mission is clear: respond, recover, and keep fighting.
