Premier League Return For Christian Pulisic? Man Utd And Aston Villa Eye USMNT Star Amid AC Milan Contract Stand-Off
Pulisic Could Return To Premier League
Christian Pulisic may be heading back to the Premier League, with Manchester United and Aston Villa reportedly interested in securing the USMNT star. The 27-year-old winger has impressed at AC Milan but has yet to agree on a contract extension with the Serie A giants, keeping his future uncertain.
AC Milan Career And Personal Bests
Pulisic moved to Italy in 2023 after a four-year spell at Chelsea, where he became a Champions League winner and recorded a Premier League hat-trick. While regular starts in England were sometimes limited, he embraced a fresh start at Milan.
At San Siro, he posted personal goal bests, netting 17 goals last season, highlighting his growth as an attacking force. Early 2025 speculation had him potentially moving to Liverpool, but with Mohamed Salah extending his contract, Pulisic remained in Italy.
Why Man Utd And Aston Villa Are Interested
Manchester United view Pulisic as part of a “revamped attack,” aiming to bring in creative, game-changing talent to strengthen their European ambitions.
Aston Villa see him as an “ideal option” for their attack, offering speed, dribbling ability, and versatility across the wing and central positions. Both clubs see Pulisic as a major upgrade to their squads.
Contract Stand-Off With AC Milan
AC Milan currently hold Pulisic under contract until 2027, with an optional 12-month extension. The club has tabled a new contract offering a wage increase, but discussions have stalled.
A recent update indicated:
“The situation hasn’t really evolved yet: it’s a stand-by phase. Milan don’t have a renewal meeting scheduled, but it will certainly be an issue they’ll want to discuss. For now, however, it remains on hold, and there’s no contact between the parties.”
Advice From Former USMNT Star
Pulisic has reportedly delayed renewal talks, wanting reassurance about Milan’s direction after missing European qualification last season. Former USMNT goalkeeper Brad Friedel advised the winger to keep his options open:
“If AC Milan are finishing in eighth, that means people are losing their jobs. I would be looking at teams in Europe and making sure, especially in a World Cup year, that my client is playing.”
Premier League Exit Looming?
With the 2026 World Cup approaching, Pulisic could be eyeing a return to the Premier League to maximize playing time and maintain form for USMNT selection. Manchester United and Aston Villa remain the top contenders, but the final decision may hinge on Milan’s contract stance and the American star’s ambitions in a crucial World Cup year.
