Man Utd Told They Could Land Long-Term Midfield Target Ederson For Just €40m Ahead Of January
Manchester United could have a golden opportunity to strengthen their midfield this January as reports suggest Atalanta star Ederson may be available for a bargain €40 million (£35m/$46m). The 26-year-old Brazilian, capable of playing defensively or further up the pitch, has long been on United’s radar, with previous price tags reportedly reaching up to €80m.
Agent Andre Cury, who represents Ederson, revealed that the midfielder’s contract expiry next year could make him significantly more affordable. “Atalanta were asking for a lot of money, between €60m and €75m. He’s close to the end of his contract, they could even lower his price by half, to between €30m and €40m, but he’s a spectacular player with some of the best stats in Europe for his position,” Cury told Cadena SER.
Ederson has also been linked with Barcelona, and Cury highlighted that the midfielder’s blend of physicality, stamina, and tactical intelligence would suit the Catalan giants’ style of play. “A player I think could adapt very well to Barça’s system, contributing a lot of physicality and stamina, is Ederson, who plays for Atalanta. It’s an opportunity because his contract is expiring. Atalanta hasn’t wanted to sell him despite receiving very high offers,” he added.
For Manchester United, the January transfer window could present the perfect chance to finally land their long-term midfield target at a significantly reduced fee, boosting the squad’s options in the centre of the park as they aim to challenge on multiple fronts.
