Fabio Paratici Returns To Tottenham As Joint Sporting Director After FIFA Ban
Tottenham Hotspur have officially announced the return of Fabio Paratici to the club — this time as joint sporting director alongside Johan Lange. The decision marks a remarkable comeback for the Italian executive, who left Spurs in April 2023 following a FIFA ban for financial irregularities during his time at Juventus.
The 53-year-old has now been cleared to resume work after reaching a plea deal in Italy, and will oversee Tottenham’s men’s football strategy, including performance development, scouting, and recruitment.
A New Chapter For Spurs’ Football Structure
Paratici’s reinstatement comes after months of behind-the-scenes consultancy work with Tottenham’s hierarchy, which includes Johan Lange, Vinai Venkatesham, and Thomas Frank. The club confirmed that both Paratici and Lange will work hand in hand to build a stronger future for Spurs on and off the pitch.
“I’m delighted to be returning to a club that I love,” said Paratici.
“I have been working with Johan, Vinai, and Thomas as a consultant for a number of months, and I now look forward to returning to London and joining the team full-time.”
Tottenham also announced plans to recruit a director of football operations to complete their new leadership structure — ensuring smooth collaboration between the men’s and women’s teams.
From Controversy To Comeback
Paratici’s previous exit came after a 30-month FIFA ban linked to Juventus’ false accounting scandal, which also led to a 10-point deduction for the Italian giants in Serie A. His return follows a recent court-approved plea bargain, which means he won’t serve an 18-month prison sentence.
Interestingly, plea deals in Italy don’t imply an admission of guilt — a fact that clears the way for Paratici’s full professional reinstatement.
Building For The Future
With Paratici’s expertise in talent identification and squad building, Spurs fans can expect more strategic signings and a renewed focus on performance optimization. The Italian’s partnership with Lange signals Tottenham’s intent to stabilize and strengthen their football operations for long-term success.
As Tottenham gears up for another exciting Premier League campaign, all eyes will be on how this new leadership duo shapes the club’s direction — both on the pitch and in the transfer market.
