‘He Has Got Everything’ – Chelsea Wonderkid Estevao Willian Backed to Follow Lamine Yamal’s Example
Chelsea’s teenage sensation Estevao Willian has been tipped to reach the very top of world football – but only if he can replicate one key attribute that Barcelona prodigy Lamine Yamal has already mastered.
Messinho’s Fast Start at Stamford Bridge
The Brazilian winger, nicknamed “Messinho” in his homeland, has settled quickly into life at Chelsea following his move from Palmeiras in 2025. The 18-year-old has already showcased his flair and determination, netting a dramatic 95th-minute winner against defending champions Liverpool earlier this season.
Unlike many young stars who initially struggle with the physicality and pace of the Premier League, Estevao has adapted impressively, blending creativity with work rate in his debut campaign.
Poyet: Consistency is the Key
Former Chelsea midfielder Gus Poyet believes Estevao has all the tools to become a global superstar, but stressed the importance of consistency – something Lamine Yamal has already shown at Barcelona and on the international stage.
“He has potential. He has got everything. I think he can be incredible and top, top, top class,” Poyet told GOAL.
“Now he needs to do it all the time. When you talk about Lamine Yamal, it’s every game – every game doing something, even with the national team. That’s the level Estevao must aim for.”
‘Don’t Overwhelm Him’ – Di Matteo Cautions
Champions League-winning coach Roberto Di Matteo also praised the teenager’s rapid rise but urged patience with his development:
“Let’s not overwhelm him with pressure, but he’s going to be a top player! You can see he is so advanced in his football development. Technically, he’s fast, unpredictable, can go outside and inside, with a very good attitude.
Ancelotti already loves him in the Brazil national team. With his family and good management supporting him, I have no doubt he’ll succeed.”
The Road Ahead
With the right balance of patience, consistency, and support, Estevao Willian could soon join the ranks of global football’s elite – much like the young stars he is already being compared to.
