Maresca Gives Update On Tosin And Fofana Fitness
Enzo Maresca provided updates on the fitness of both Tosin Adarabioyo and Wesley Fofana following our 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace.
Fofana was ever-present for the Blues last season when fit but has not featured since mid-March due to injury.
However, the France international is back in training and was named on the bench for our Premier League opener against Crystal Palace.
One player who was not included, though, was Tosin, having been part of our Club World Cup success over the summer and playing in last weekend’s two friendlies against Bayer Leverkusen and AC Milan.
During his post-match press conference, Maresca explained: ‘Tosin had a physical problem. We don’t know for how long.
‘Wes was on the bench but was just on the bench to be with us and the plan was for him not to get any minutes.
‘Now hopefully for the next one, we can use Wes for some minutes.’
Maresca had also spoken about the pair pre-match during a television interview, saying: ‘We are very happy first of all for Wes because after a long time he deserved to be back with us.’
Before adding on Tosin: ‘There is a small injury, he needs some days off, then we will see for the next game.’
