Osimhen To Man Utd: £64m Deal ‘Approved’ But Wage Demands A Sticking Point
Manchester United transfer news as Victor Osimhen seemingly gives Ruben Amorim the green light to complete £64m transfer
Manchester United are reportedly now in pole position to sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen in what could be a huge boost in Ruben Amorim’s hopes of finally landing a new centre-forward.
Osimhen was heavily linked with a move to the Premier League 12 months ago with United, Arsenal and Chelsea tipped throughout the summer. The Nigeria international failed to secure a transfer to one of Europe’s top five leagues and joined Galatasaray.
In Turkey, Osimhen scored 37 goals and now, speculation is soaring about where the 26-year-old will end up next. The striker market is saturated this summer with many of Europe’s top teams looking to strengthen their options at centre-forward.
United are expected to replace Rasmus Hojlund, with Viktor Gyokeres the number one target. The Sporting CP star worked with Ruben Amorim in Portugal and has been tipped to join him at Old Trafford since the end of last year.
However, Arsenal and Chelsea are both in the market for a centre-forward and can offer Champions League football, something United can’t. Fortunately, the lack of European nights in Manchester isn’t stopping them in the pursuit of Osimhen.
Spanish outlet Fichajes have reported that Osimhen has chosen to join United this summer. The report adds that the striker has ‘expressed his willingness’ to move to Old Trafford, although it does state a deal is not yet done.
It has previously been reported that Napoli are demanding a fee in the region of £64million. That figure would fall below the £80m that Sporting want for Gyokeres. The Italian side aren’t keen on keeping Osimhen with Romelu Lukaku’s goals helping Gli Azzurri to the Serie A title.
At 26, Osimhen is reaching his peak and would slot perfectly into United’s starting XI. The finances involved in the deal are yet to be cleared with United knowing they have to sell players to launch an offer worth £64m.
