Barcelona seek €210m loan to fund Julian Alvarez pursuit and three summer signings

Barcelona have taken another major step in their summer rebuild by requesting a €210 million credit line to finance key transfer targets, including Julian Alvarez, Joao Cancelo and Karim Adeyemi.

The Catalan giants are determined to strengthen Hansi Flick’s squad ahead of the new campaign while continuing to navigate their financial restrictions.

Barcelona planning major summer spending

According to Marca, Barcelona have applied for a €210 million credit facility backed by projected revenue for next season.

The funding would allow the club to move aggressively in the transfer market without waiting for player sales, while also helping Barcelona comply with La Liga’s 1:1 spending rule required to register new signings.

Club officials believe further reinforcements are essential if Flick’s side are to challenge for domestic and European honours.

Julian Alvarez remains top target

Barcelona continue to prioritise Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez as their marquee signing.

The Argentina international is viewed as the ideal long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski following the veteran striker’s move to Chicago Fire.

While no formal breakthrough has yet been reached, Barcelona are expected to intensify negotiations once the World Cup concludes.

Adeyemi and Cancelo also on Barcelona’s list

Alongside Alvarez, Barcelona are working to complete deals for Borussia Dortmund winger Karim Adeyemi and full-back Joao Cancelo.

Reports suggest Adeyemi’s transfer is progressing well after positive discussions, while Cancelo’s permanent move remains more complicated.

Barcelona must first resolve outstanding tax-related issues before they can finalise an agreement for the Portuguese defender.

Loan to support transfers and operations

Although the majority of the €210 million facility is expected to be used for transfer activity, part of the funding will also cover player wages and other day-to-day operational expenses.

The strategy is designed to provide Barcelona with greater financial flexibility while maintaining stability during another ambitious recruitment drive.

The club have already shown their intent this summer by completing the signing of Anthony Gordon in a deal worth an initial €70 million, with a further €10 million payable through performance-related bonuses.

With Alvarez, Adeyemi and Cancelo all firmly on Barcelona’s radar, the coming weeks could prove pivotal as Flick looks to assemble a squad capable of competing for every major trophy.
