Davide Ancelotti is reportedly on the verge of becoming the new manager of Lille OSC after reaching a full agreement with the Ligue 1 side.
The move would mark another huge step in the coaching career of the former Real Madrid assistant, who has spent years working alongside his legendary father, Carlo Ancelotti.
According to reports from France and Spain, only the official club announcement remains before Davide is unveiled as Lille’s new head coach.
Lille acted swiftly after the departure of former manager Bruno Genesio, whose contract expired despite guiding the club to an impressive third-place finish in Ligue 1.
The French side also secured automatic qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League, making the managerial vacancy one of the most attractive jobs available in European football this summer.
Club executives reportedly identified Davide Ancelotti as the ideal candidate to continue the project and lead Lille into a new era.
One major factor behind Lille’s decision is Davide’s familiarity with French football.
The Italian coach previously worked at Paris Saint-Germain between 2012 and 2013 as part of Carlo Ancelotti’s backroom staff.
He is also fluent in French, which is expected to help him settle quickly inside the dressing room and communicate effectively with players and club officials.
That experience reportedly made negotiations far smoother and strengthened Lille’s confidence in the appointment.
For years, Davide has been viewed as one of the brightest tactical minds among football’s younger coaching generation.
He worked closely with Carlo Ancelotti across multiple elite clubs, including:
Now, however, he appears ready to fully establish himself independently.
After previously managing Brazilian side Botafogo, Davide also joined the Brazil national football team setup as an assistant earlier this year.
His upcoming move to Lille represents another major opportunity to prove he can succeed at the highest level without working directly under his father.
Davide inherits one of France’s most ambitious clubs.
Lille remain the only side to break PSG’s domestic dominance since 2018 after famously winning the Ligue 1 title in 2021.
Supporters will now hope the Italian can maintain the club’s upward trajectory while competing both domestically and in Europe.
With Champions League football returning to the Stade Pierre-Mauroy next season, pressure will immediately be high.
At just 36 years old, Davide Ancelotti is already taking on one of the biggest managerial roles of his career.
The move signals Lille’s belief in youthful, modern coaching ideas combined with elite-level experience gained inside some of football’s biggest dressing rooms.
If successful, this appointment could finally establish Davide as far more than simply Carlo Ancelotti’s assistant.
It could mark the true beginning of his own managerial legacy.
