Missy Bo Kearns Announces Pregnancy As Lionesses Stars Celebrate

Missy Bo Kearns has revealed she is expecting her first child — and the Lionesses family has rallied around her with messages of love and support.

The England midfielder, who plays for Aston Villa Women F.C., shared the news on social media alongside her boyfriend, Liam Walsh, a midfielder for Luton Town F.C..

The couple announced that their baby is due in September, posting a heartfelt video that showed them painting the words “mum and dad, Sept 26” on a wall in their home, alongside scan images.

Lionesses Stars React

The comments section quickly filled with congratulations from across the women’s football world.

Among those sharing their excitement were:

  • Leah Williamson

  • Alessia Russo

  • Lucy Bronze

  • Beth Mead

  • Ella Toone

  • Lauren James

  • Chloe Kelly

The outpouring of support underlined Kearns’ strong bonds within the national setup.

Sarina Wiegman: “It’s Great News”

Speaking ahead of England’s upcoming World Cup qualifier, Lionesses head coach Sarina Wiegman confirmed she had been in contact with Kearns.

“Of course, I’m happy for her. It’s great news,” Wiegman said. “We said she’s not available for this camp, so now that’s clear why. I’m very happy for her, for them. I hope all things go well. It’s another amazing period for her coming up.”

Midfielder Georgia Stanway, who joined Wiegman at the press conference, admitted the squad is excited about welcoming a future “little Lioness” into the fold.

A New Chapter For The Lionesses

Motherhood while representing England is not unprecedented, but it will mark a significant and inspiring chapter for this generation.

The United States famously included three mothers — Alex Morgan, Julie Ertz and Crystal Dunn — in their squad for the 2023 Women’s World Cup.

For England, Katie Chapman was the most recent Lioness to return to international duty after giving birth. Now, Kearns could follow in those footsteps in the years ahead.

What Comes Next

Kearns was officially listed as unavailable for England’s latest camp — and now the reason is clear. For now, football takes a back seat as she prepares for an exciting new journey.

If all goes to plan, the Lionesses may soon have their youngest supporter yet — and potentially, one day, another future England star in the making.
