Khadija Shaw Wins WSL Player Of The Season After Historic Manchester City Title Triumph

Khadija Shaw has officially been crowned the Women’s Super League Player of the Season after delivering a sensational campaign for Manchester City Women F.C..

The prolific striker played a massive role in guiding City to their first WSL title in a decade, finishing the season as the league’s top scorer once again.

Shaw Dominates The WSL Again

The 29-year-old Jamaica international enjoyed another extraordinary year in English football, scoring 21 goals in just 22 league appearances.

That incredible return earned Shaw her third consecutive Women’s Super League Golden Boot — further cementing her reputation as one of the deadliest forwards in world football.

Her dominance in front of goal proved decisive as Manchester City ended their 10-year wait for another league title.

Earlier this month, Shaw had already been recognised for her brilliance after winning the prestigious Football Writers’ Association Women’s Footballer of the Year award.

Now, she has added the WSL’s biggest individual prize to an unforgettable season.

Transfer Speculation Growing

Despite her historic campaign, uncertainty still surrounds Shaw’s future at the club.

Reports suggest contract extension talks between the striker and Manchester City have broken down, with her current deal set to expire in June.

That situation has sparked heavy speculation linking Shaw with a possible move to rivals Chelsea Women F.C. during the summer transfer window.

The thought of losing their star striker has already left many City fans worried.

Casparij Praises “Incredible” Team-Mate

Shaw did not attend the award ceremony in London, with City vice-captain Kerstin Casparij collecting the honour on her behalf.

During Manchester City’s homecoming celebrations, supporters repeatedly chanted for Shaw to remain at the club.

Speaking about her teammate, Casparij could not hide her admiration.

“She’s a goalscorer, an incredible person and she’s been so fun to work with,” she said.

“I have my assist tally to thank her for because she’s headed those goals in. She’s just incredible.”

Other Major WSL Award Winners

Several other stars across the league were also recognised following the conclusion of the season.

Hannah Hampton of Chelsea claimed the Golden Glove award after an outstanding campaign between the posts.

Veerle Buurman picked up the Rising Star award, while Kirsty Hanson won Goal of the Season.

In the Championship, Lily Crosthwaite was named Player of the Season after helping Birmingham City W.F.C. impress in the second tier.

Meanwhile, Sophie Whitehouse earned the Golden Glove award as Charlton Athletic W.F.C. secured a promotion play-off spot.

One Of The Best Seasons In WSL History?

With 21 goals, a league title, another Golden Boot, and multiple major awards, Shaw’s 2025/26 campaign will undoubtedly go down as one of the finest individual seasons in Women’s Super League history.

Now the big question remains:

Will Manchester City convince their superstar striker to stay?
