NFF President Ibrahim Gusau Hails Super Eagles’ Dominant Win Ahead Of DR Congo Final
The President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Gusau, has showered praise on the Super Eagles following their commanding 4-1 victory over Gabon in Rabat. The emphatic win, powered by goals from Victor Osimhen (brace), Jerome Adams Akor and Chidera Ejuke, secured Nigeria’s spot in the final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup African playoffs.
Nigeria’s performance against the Panthers showcased grit, composure and that trademark Super Eagles fighting spirit, much to the delight of the football federation boss.
Gusau: “They Made Nigeria Proud”
Speaking to the NFF media team, Gusau expressed complete satisfaction with the team’s display.
“We are happy with the result. The players rose stoutly to the occasion and made Nigeria proud with a solid performance,” Gusau said.
He added that this group of players has the mental toughness needed to conquer any opposition that stands between Nigeria and a return to the World Cup.
“No doubt, they have that grit, guts and winning mentality to conquer whoever turns out to be the opposition in Sunday’s final.”
Nigeria Sets Sights On DR Congo In Crucial Final
Next up for the Super Eagles is a high-stakes showdown with the Democratic Republic of Congo at the Prince Héritier Moulay El Hassan Sports Complex in Rabat.
After overcoming financial disputes, injuries and the pressure of knockout football, Eric Chelle’s men appear focused, determined, and hungry for that final push.
With Victor Osimhen in explosive form and the squad firing on all cylinders, Nigerian fans are eagerly expecting another spirited performance that will move the nation closer to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
What This Means For Nigeria And The Sports Market
This victory does more than lift morale—it strengthens Nigeria’s position within Africa’s sports market:
-
Increased engagement from fans across multiple platforms
-
Rising player valuations
-
Higher media viewership and sponsorship interest
-
Stronger demand for Super Eagles content as one of the continent’s best-followed teams
It’s no surprise that sports analysts regard Nigeria as a powerhouse with one of the most commercially attractive football cultures in Africa.
