Liverpool Earn Unfavourable Lionel Messi & Neymar Comparison After £240m Spend On Isak & Wirtz

Liverpool Have Found Themselves In The Spotlight For All The Wrong Reasons After Being Compared To Paris Saint-Germain’s Star-Studded But Often Disjointed Attack That Once Featured Lionel Messi, Neymar, And Kylian Mbappe.

The Reds Spent A Whopping £240 Million On Alexander Isak And Florian Wirtz During The Summer Transfer Window, Hoping To Build A Fearsome New Front Line Under Manager Arne Slot. But So Far, The Chemistry Isn’t Clicking.

⚽ Liverpool’s Expensive Attack Still Misfiring

Despite The Big-Name Signings, Liverpool’s Forward Line Has Yet To Catch Fire.
Mohamed Salah, Once The Club’s Undisputed Star, Has Struggled For Form And Was Even Dropped To The Bench For Key Champions League Fixtures.

Isak, The £130 Million Signing From Newcastle, Has Managed Just One Carabao Cup Goal, While Wirtz, The Highly-Rated German Playmaker, Is Still Waiting To Score His First.

Even Cody Gakpo Has Missed Big Chances, And The Team’s Early Wins Have Relied Heavily On Late Goals — A Sign That All Is Not Well In Attack.

Aliadiere’s PSG Comparison

Former Arsenal Star Jeremie Aliadiere Drew A Harsh But Honest Comparison Between Slot’s Liverpool And The Old PSG Superteam:

“I Compare This Liverpool Side To Paris Saint-Germain When They Had Lionel Messi, Neymar And Kylian Mbappe. You Buy All These Superstars That Excite Fans, But It Doesn’t Mean They’ll Gel Together.”

Aliadiere Also Suggested That The New Signings Might Upset Salah’s Role As Liverpool’s Main Man:

“They’ve Done Everything To Keep Him Happy. He’s Been The Best Winger In The League For Years. But Bringing In Goal-Hungry Players Could Disrupt That Balance — Just Like At PSG.”

Ekitike Deserves More Trust

Aliadiere Highlighted Hugo Ekitike As Liverpool’s Bright Spot, With The French Forward Scoring Six Times In 12 Games.

“I Feel For Arne Slot. He’s Got Two Expensive Strikers To Keep Happy, But Ekitike Deserves To Start. He Began The Season So Well, And Now He’s On The Bench After They Spent £130m On Isak.”

He Warned That Slot Faces A Tricky Balancing Act Between Tactics, Ego Management, And Maintaining Morale — Especially With Premier League Rivals Arsenal And Manchester City Looking Ruthless In The Title Race.

What’s Next For Liverpool?

While There’s Still Time For The Reds’ New Frontline To Find Their Rhythm, Pressure Is Mounting On Slot To Turn Individual Brilliance Into Team Cohesion.
Otherwise, Liverpool Risk Following PSG’s Footsteps — All Flash, No Finish.

Bilic returns to the national team after more than a decade away, ending a two-year absence from management as he begins a second spell in charge of his country. ## Bilic begins a second spell with Croatia The Croatian Football Federation (HNS) announced Bilic’s appointment after the Executive Committee unanimously approved the recommendation of federation president Marijan Kustic. Bilic previously managed Croatia between 2006 and 2012, guiding the national team through two European Championships before embarking on a successful club coaching career that included spells with West Ham United, West Bromwich Albion, Besiktas and Al-Ittihad. The federation believes his experience and deep understanding of Croatian football make him the ideal candidate to lead the next generation. ## Huge task replacing Zlatko Dalic Bilic succeeds one of the most successful managers in Croatia’s history. Dalic stepped down after the 2026 World Cup, bringing an end to a remarkable tenure that included a World Cup final, a World Cup semi-final and several memorable tournament campaigns. Federation president Marijan Kustic acknowledged the size of the challenge but expressed complete confidence in Bilic. > “I would like to once again thank Zlatko for the exceptional results he achieved during his tenure. It is not easy to follow in his footsteps, but we are convinced Slaven is the right person for this role.” Kustic added that Bilic’s international pedigree and extensive coaching experience were decisive factors behind the appointment. ## Bilic honoured to return Bilic described his return as the greatest honour of his coaching career and admitted he understands the expectations that come with leading one of international football’s most consistent tournament teams. > “I would like to thank President Kustic and the Federation’s leadership for the confidence they have shown in allowing me to lead the Croatian national team once again — the greatest honour for any Croatian coach.” The 57-year-old also praised the standards established under Dalic while insisting he is ready for the responsibility. > “I am fully aware of the high expectations that follow such a remarkable period under Zlatko Dalic, but anyone who takes charge of Croatia must be prepared for that because we are a football nation that lives and breathes its national team.” ## A new chapter begins Bilic now faces the task of building on Dalic’s legacy while preparing Croatia for the next international cycle. With a blend of experienced stars and emerging young talent at his disposal, Croatia will hope their returning manager can guide them to another successful era on the international stage.
