Yaya Touré Wants Barcelona and Man City After Slovan Champions League Qualification

Yaya Touré Wants Barcelona and Manchester City After Slovan Bratislava’s Historic Champions League Qualification

Yaya Touré has guided Slovan Bratislava into the Champions League proper — and the former Manchester City and Barcelona star already knows which clubs he wants to face.

The Ivorian has made a remarkable start to his managerial career, leading Slovan Bratislava through qualifying and into Europe’s biggest club competition after a sensational away victory over Celje.

Now, Touré wants the biggest possible test.

Touré makes his dream draw clear

Speaking after Slovan’s historic qualification, Touré revealed that he would love to welcome Barcelona and Manchester City to Bratislava.

It would make for a fascinating reunion.

Touré enjoyed legendary spells with both clubs as a player, winning major trophies and establishing himself as one of the finest midfielders of his generation.

Now, he could face them from the opposite side of the touchline.

“I would love Barcelona to visit Bratislava, and maybe Manchester City to come here as well.”

Touré also made it clear that Slovan would not simply be looking to enjoy the occasion.

The rookie manager wants his players to measure themselves against Europe’s elite.

‘We want to know our true level’

Touré praised his players for following the game plan and credited the travelling supporters for creating an incredible atmosphere during the crucial away victory.

More than the result, however, the qualification represents a huge moment for a manager still at the beginning of his coaching journey.

Facing Barcelona or Manchester City would give Touré an opportunity to test his tactical ideas against clubs he knows extremely well from his playing career.

And for Slovan Bratislava, hosting either European heavyweight would be a night to remember.

From Champions League star to Champions League manager

Touré knows exactly what the competition feels like from the pitch.

Now, he is experiencing it from the dugout.

His immediate challenge will be keeping Slovan competitive against Europe’s best, but the prospect of facing one of his former clubs adds an extra layer of excitement to the story.

Imagine this: Yaya Touré standing on the touchline in Bratislava, watching Barcelona or Manchester City walk out against his Slovan side.

That Champions League reunion could be one of the most intriguing stories of the campaign.
