Following a slow start to their campaign, Nigeria’s Super Eagles are under mounting pressure to deliver in their upcoming fixtures against Lesotho and Benin Republic. Speaking ahead of the crucial tie, Super Eagles vice-captain William Troost-Ekong stressed the importance of maximum concentration. He warned against underestimating Lesotho, who have been solid in the group so far.
“We’re approaching this the same way we approached the game against South Africa. It’s important for us to go for all three points,” Ekong said.
“We have to show Lesotho respect—they’ve done well in the group and have picked up points against us also. So, yeah, it’s going to be an important game for both of us.”
Troost-Ekong further highlighted the team’s preparation:
“We’ve just been focused on our preparation. Like the coach said, we had two very good training sessions today and the third one here. We’re looking forward to the game tomorrow.”
The Super Eagles are currently camped in South Africa, with big names like Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, Alex Iwobi, and Wilfred Ndidi expected to play pivotal roles. Their presence could be the difference in what promises to be a decisive phase of the qualifiers.
