World’s Tallest Building Gets Liverpool Makeover
Dubai’s Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, was the subject of a unique marketing push from Liverpool FC on Saturday night.
The stunt illuminated the building in Liverpool’s trademark red, displaying the club crest and the words “You’ll Never Walk Alone” in a high-visibility activation that underscored the Premier League club’s global reach.
The building’s temporary makeover was visible across downtown Dubai and pushed across social media – creating the type of spectacle that would halt your scrolling for a moment to appreciate.
The timely display, which coincided with Liverpool’s pre-season marketing push, connected the club with one of the most recognisable architectural landmarks in the world. The hope is that the stunt pushes the club’s market presence in the Middle East, a strategically important region for fan growth and commercial partnerships – especially for the Reds.
This is because they boast one of the most valuable Arab sports stars in the world in Mohamed Salah, putting the Premier League champions in a strong position to develop their fanbase in the region – especially with Salah signed on for at least another two seasons on Merseyside.
Off the back of their FA Community Shield disappointment on Sunday afternoon, Liverpool will raise the curtain on the new Premier League season against AFC Bournemouth on Friday night.
Last weekend’s loss to Crystal Palace gave a sneak peak of their attacking potential, though also unveiled a couple of flaws that Arne Slot will be keen to tweak before their trip to the South coast.
