Wolves Won’t Easily Release Player As Transfer Interest Intensifies

Celta Vigo have become the latest club to join the battle for Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Fábio Silva in the summer window, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The striker struggled since joining Wolves from FC Porto for €40m in 2020 and has been on loan at Anderlecht, PSV Eindhoven and Rangers.

Last summer, Wolves allowed him to join UD Las Palmas, and the 22-year-old has starred for the La Liga side.

He managed 10 goals and three assists from 24 league games and his displays helped him make debut for Portugal in November.

Earlier this month, Cadena Ser stated VfL Wolfsburg, VfB Stuttgart and Eintracht Frankfurt are all keen on signing Silva, who is ready to leave Wolves.

Mundo mentions the trio and points out Sevilla and Atlético Madrid have also expressed interest in the frontman. Celta Vigo and Valencia are the two new teams added to the list.

The report adds Silva’s name has been ‘underlined in red’ by Celta, who would be keen to sign him if they qualify for Europe. They are seventh in the table, two points above eight placed Rayo Vallecano.

With growing interest, Mundo state Wolves ‘won’t let him go easily’. They invested €40m and don’t want to sell him for cheap even though Silva isn’t in their plans for next season. This makes a potential operation complicated for Celta Vigo.
