Kelechi Iheanacho eager for fresh start at Middlesbrough

Nigerian forward Kelechi Iheanacho is looking forward to a new chapter after joining Sky Bet Championship club Middlesbrough on loan from Spanish side Sevilla.

In his first interview with the club, Iheanacho expressed enthusiasm about the move and the warm reception he received:

“I’m really excited to be here. It’s a lovely place, and they’ve made me feel welcome, so I’m really happy,” Iheanacho told Middlesbrough’s official website.

The 28-year-old’s switch to the Riverside Stadium was swift, and he praised the club’s setup and management:

“The move went really quickly, everything was fast. The coach is good, the team is good, and I’ve played against them a few times. The manager is a really nice guy, and I’ve been speaking to him as well, so I’m happy to be here.”

After struggling for form at Sevilla, where he failed to register a goal in nine league appearances, Iheanacho is determined to make a positive impact at Middlesbrough.

“It was great to experience a different environment at Sevilla, and it’s a great team I’ll always appreciate. But I’m here now, and I’m focused on what we can achieve here,” he said.

Returning to England feels like a homecoming for the former Manchester City and Leicester City striker:

“It feels like home now coming back to England. I’m buzzing to get started. Playing in the Championship with Leicester City was a great experience, and I know what it takes.”

As he sets his sights on contributing to Boro’s success, Iheanacho emphasized his readiness:

“I’m feeling ready, I’m ready to go, I can’t wait to get started. It’s a good club and a great league, so let’s see where it goes.”

Middlesbrough fans will undoubtedly hope Iheanacho’s experience and talent will bolster the team’s attacking options for the remainder of the season.
