Falcons star Kanu scores historic brace for Racing Louisville
Super Falcons forward Uchenna Kanu scored the fastest brace in the history of the National Women’s Soccer League as Racing Louisville were held to a 2-2 draw by Portland Timbers.
Kanu opened the scoring for Racing with just three minutes on the clock. The striker nodded home Reilyn Turner’s cross to make it 2-0 three minutes later. But Portland Timbers rallied to equalise through Morgan Weaver and Samantha Coffey.
The Nigerian expressed her delight after the game.
“First of all, I’m excited that I got two goals and I didn’t even know I made history today, and I’m super, super thankful for that,” Kanu told reporters.
“And of course, I’m proud of my girls. I think we played really well. That last minute was really, really intense for us, and we just need to find a way to grind through the whole game, through the last minute—but overall, the girls put in everything today.”
