Barcelona to wear Rolling Stones logo on El Clasico shirts

Barcelona will wear the famous Rolling Stones logo on their shirt when they face Real Madrid in El Clasico on October 28.

Xavi’s La Liga champions are sponsored by music streaming giants Spotify and have a history of using artist emblems on their shirts for Clasico games, with logos of both Drake and Rosalia taking pride of place during the two La Liga meetings last season.

This time around, British rock legends The Rolling Stones will feature on the shirt, with the famous Tongue and Lips logo taking the place of the Spotify sponsorship.

The agreement marks the release of the band’s new album Hackney Diamonds, which is due to be released on October 20 – 18 years after The Rolling Stones last released an album.

In addition to the Clasico shirt, the Rolling Stones logo will also feature on the front of the women’s shirt for the Liga F game against Sevilla a week later.

1,899 shirts will be available for fans to buy, while Barcelona will also sell 22 shirts signed by each player to start the two games in which the shirt will be worn.

There is also a new lifestyle collection, including t-shirts, bucket hats and hoodies, which will go on sale on October 23.

The Rolling Stones will also release their own exclusive merchandise, with a limited edition Barcelona printing of their new vinyl album available alongside a Barca retro jersey.

“Yet again our collaboration with Spotify has taken things to the next level,” said Barcelona marketing area vice-president Juli Guiu. “Bringing together two icons – The Rolling Stones logo and the Barça jersey – is a special moment for our fans around the world. Music and football form a special partnership with a long future ahead of them and we are happy to add another chapter to the story alongside Spotify.”

Kano Pillars chairman Alhaji Ali Muhammad Umar has commended his team despite their 2-1 defeat to Remo Stars in Ikenne on Sunday.

Speaking to the club’s media, Umar expressed pride in the players’ performance and praised their dominance throughout the match.

“I must commend the players and the technical crew for the way they approached the game. From the first whistle to the end of regulation time, they played with passion and dominated the match,” Umar stated.

He acknowledged the unpredictable nature of football, attributing the loss to bad luck.

“Sometimes, football can be cruel, and we were just unlucky not to secure all three points. We must build on this performance. The season is still ongoing, and I believe with more effort, we will achieve our objectives,” he added.

Kano Pillars are set to face rivals Katsina United in a rescheduled matchday 20 encounter at the Sani Abacha Stadium on Wednesday.

Mangut Blames Pitch Condition for Plateau United’s Draw Against Niger Tornadoes

Plateau United

Plateau United’s technical adviser, Mbwas Mangut, has pointed to the poor condition of the playing surface at Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna as a factor in his team’s 1-1 draw with Niger Tornadoes.

In a post-match interview, Mangut acknowledged the impact of the pitch on his team’s performance, though he expressed satisfaction with the result.

“We are happy with the one point; we came with the mindset to see if we can get the maximum points,” he said.

“You could see the condition of the ground; it didn’t allow us to express ourselves the way we used to play.”

Mangut reassured fans, saying, “With what we are doing, every fan should be patient. I believe that at the end of the day, this team will definitely be where they belong. There are so many factors that will take us to that level, and we are working on that.”

With the draw, Plateau United moved up to 15th position on the table.
