Edu £100m Arsenal transfer plan as £63m Newcastle move tipped
Arsenal have been one of the busiest clubs in world football this summer and they boast the highest net spend in the Premier League after the signings of Jurrien Timber, David Raya, Kai Havertz and club record arrival Declan Rice.
Mikel Arteta is determined to bridge the gap between his side and Premier League winners Manchester City and further arrivals could be on the horizon in the final few days of the summer window.
But Arsenal fans can also expect to see plenty of sales in the near future. The Gunners were without five first team players for their most recent training session and they were all forced to train separately amid talk of a potential exit.
Arsenal have hit the headlines throughout the last few months but their business is far from over and we can expect plenty of ingoings and outgoings in the coming days.
With that in mind we have taken a look at all the latest rumours surrounding the North London giants as we approach the last week of the transfer window.
Arsenal have spent over £203.5m on new recruits and they have made just £40.8m on player sales – giving them a total net spend of £162.7m.
The Gunners are keen to make up for some of their losses with player sales in order to balance the books to meet financial fair play regulations.
Kieran Tierney, Albert Sambi Lokonga, Nuno Tavares, Folarin Balogun and Rob Holding were all absent from Arsenal’s most recent team training session ahead of their game against Fulham and they all took part in a separate session.
All five of the players have failed to make the Arsenal squad for their opening two Premier League games against Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace and it appears that Mikel Arteta is already preparing his team for lift without the quintet.
The most valuable asset of the five players is likely to be Balogun. The young forward scored 21 goals on loan at Reims last season.
The USA striker is valued at around £50m and he is linked with the likes of Monaco, Chelsea, West Ham and Tottenham, according to the Daily Mail.
Tierney’s future at Arsenal is in doubt despite a long term injury to Jurrien Timber and former club Celtic are the most likely destination for the player, according to the Sun.
Tavares was linked with a move to Nottingham Forest but Aston Villa have emerged as the frontrunners for the signing of the defender, according to GiveMeSport.
Arsenal have struggled with injuries to Gabriel Jesus since his arrival from Manchester City and Eddie Nkeitah is currently the team’s main man in attack with Balogun appearing to be surplus to requirements.
This has led to suggestions of a new signing at Arsenal and former midfielder Emmauel Petit has recommended Alexander Isak from Newcastle United.
The Swedish forward scored 10 goals in 22 games last season and kick started this campaign with a double against Aston Villa.
However, the Magpies are unlikely to part company with their star striker this summer as they aim to consolidate their place in the Champions League.
