SCTV obtains muti-year media rights of LaLiga in Vietnam
The Vietnamese pay TV operator, Saigon Tourist Cable Television (SCTV) has acquired broadcast rights to the Spanish professional football competition, LaLiga.
With the multi-year contract to stream LaLiga, SCTV will have access to all 380 games in Vietnam as well as a variety of additional highlights, weekly previews, news, and review shows. After sharing the broadcast rights since 2018, SCTV will be LaLiga’s sole Vietnamese home for the following five seasons, ending in 2027/28.
Furthermore, the play-off games that will determine the last promotion spot from the second to the first tier and a few matches from Spain’s second division will also be shown on SCTV.
Over the past ten years, SCTV, a national leader in digitalization and technology, has been carrying all significant sports in Vietnam, including badminton, golf, and tennis alongside LaLiga and the Bundesliga. With the help of this alliance, SCTV has solidified its position as the weekly host of the best players in the world, including Robert Lewandowski, Vinicius Junior, Thibaut Courtois, Pedri, Antoine Griezmann, and recent additions, Ilkay Gundogan and Jude Bellingham.
Melcior Soler, LaLiga’s Audiovisual Director, said, “At LaLiga we are very excited about this agreement. We always look for best-in-class partners to deliver Spanish football to fans everywhere, and the fact that we are going to be with SCTV for 5 more seasons is a sign of the strength and appeal of our competition, and will allow us to reach the highest standards when it comes to engaging with Vietnamese fans.”
Tran Van Uy, General Director of SCTV, said, “The acquisition of LaLiga media rights for five consecutive seasons showcases the great effort from SCTV to provide public viewers and especially sports fans the best-in-class contents. This partnership is also testament to the commitment from LaLiga organizers to work closely with SCTV to bring the Spanish football atmosphere closer than ever to Vietnamese fans.”
