Former Bournemouth star Jordan Chiedozie in coma after devastating car accident

Jordan Chiedozie, former Bournemouth player and current Bashley FC forward, has been left in a coma following a tragic car accident on the M27.

The 30-year-old, son of former Tottenham winger John Okechukwu Chiedozie, was returning from a Southern League match at Tavistock with club physio Reighan Taylor when their vehicle suffered a flat tyre.

As Chiedozie inspected the issue, both he and Taylor were struck by another car. Chiedozie sustained multiple fractures and remains in a controlled coma at Southampton Hospital.

Bashley FC confirmed the heartbreaking incident in an official statement:

“Everyone connected with Bashley Football Club is devastated by the news that our player Jordan Chiedozie is currently in hospital with what is described as ‘life-changing, and potentially life-threatening’ injuries after a serious car crash… Jordan was taken to Southampton Hospital suffering multiple broken bones and other physical injuries. At this time, he remains in a controlled coma.”

The club further disclosed that the driver responsible had been arrested for alleged drink-driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

While Taylor was unharmed physically, she is reportedly dealing with severe emotional trauma.

Bashley boss David Lewis expressed his deep concern and support for Chiedozie and his family, saying, “Everyone at the club is completely stunned by what happened, and our thoughts at the moment are far more with Jordan and his family, and with Reighan than they are with football.”

The Southern League has granted Bashley FC’s request to postpone their scheduled match against Thatcham Town as the club continues to rally around Chiedozie and Taylor during this challenging time.
