Marc Cucurella has stayed true to his word by unveiling a permanent tattoo of Spain head coach Luis de la Fuente following La Roja’s triumphant 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign.
The Spain international had vowed to immortalise his manager in ink if the national team lifted the trophy in North America—and he has now fulfilled that promise.
Cucurella revealed the tattoo on social media, sharing images of the completed artwork created by renowned tattoo artist Ganga.
The tribute comes after Spain defeated Argentina 1-0 in the World Cup final to reclaim football’s biggest prize. Shortly after the victory, Cucurella confirmed he intended to honour his pledge, even inviting supporters to suggest where the tattoo should be placed.
Now, the defender has followed through, accompanying the reveal with a simple message:
“Promise kept.”
The tattoo features De la Fuente holding the FIFA World Cup trophy with the tournament logo displayed in the background.
Ganga, widely regarded as one of the world’s leading tattoo artists, has previously worked with global sporting icons including LeBron James and Carlos Alcaraz. His latest creation captures the emotion of Spain’s victorious manager as he celebrates the nation’s World Cup success.
Although Cucurella initially joked that he might place the tattoo somewhere discreet, the final design occupies a clearly visible location, reflecting the defender’s admiration for the coach.
The gesture also highlights the strong bond between De la Fuente and his squad after guiding Spain from European champions to world champions.
Cucurella was among Spain’s standout performers throughout the competition, playing a pivotal role in De la Fuente’s side as they secured the country’s second World Cup title.
The tournament capped a remarkable year for the left-back, who also completed a high-profile move from Chelsea to Real Madrid before the start of the new season.
His rise has been one of the most impressive stories in European football, progressing from a promising La Liga prospect to a Premier League star before becoming both a European champion and World Cup winner with Spain.
With his latest tattoo, Cucurella has ensured the memories of Spain’s historic triumph—and the manager who inspired it—will remain with him for life.
