Jobe Bellingham sends bold message to Borussia Dortmund fans after promising first season

Jobe Bellingham has vowed to reward Borussia Dortmund supporters after a season of adaptation, insisting fans can “expect great things” from him during the 2026-27 campaign.

The England Under-21 midfielder believes he is ready to move beyond the label of exciting prospect and establish himself as one of Dortmund’s key players.

Ready to make his own name

Following a first season that featured both encouraging performances and valuable learning experiences, Bellingham believes the time has come to step out of the shadow of older brother Jude and become a leader in his own right.

Borussia Dortmund view the 20-year-old as one of the club’s long-term cornerstones, and the midfielder is embracing that responsibility.

Speaking during Dortmund’s pre-season tour of Japan, Bellingham said:

“I’ve played a lot of games in my career, I’m not a young kid anymore. There are many players younger than me.”

His comments underline a growing confidence as he prepares for his second Bundesliga campaign.

Excited about partnership with Felix Nmecha

One of Dortmund’s biggest hopes for the new season is the developing midfield partnership between Bellingham and Felix Nmecha.

The pair are expected to form the backbone of Niko Kovac’s midfield, combining energy, technical quality and defensive solidity.

Bellingham believes supporters will soon see the benefits of their growing chemistry.

“I don’t want to say too much. But you can expect great things from Felix and me next season. I feel more and more at home at the club, and our interplay is working better and better.”

The England youngster added that feeling settled at Signal Iduna Park has played a major role in his development.

Hard work over holiday

Rather than taking an extended summer break, Bellingham chose to focus on improving his fitness ahead of the new campaign.

The midfielder returned to Birmingham to train with trusted coaches and followed Borussia Dortmund’s conditioning programme while adding extra sessions of his own.

Explaining his preparations, Bellingham said:

“I went to Birmingham and trained with people I’ve known for a long time. I completed the club’s program and even put in some extra work. I simply wanted to get myself into the best possible shape.”

Big expectations for the new season

With a full year of Bundesliga experience behind him, Bellingham enters the 2026-27 season carrying significantly greater expectations.

Borussia Dortmund believe the talented midfielder has everything required to become one of the club’s leading figures, while Bellingham himself is eager to repay the faith shown in him.

If his pre-season confidence translates into competitive performances, Dortmund supporters could soon witness the emergence of another Bellingham capable of becoming one of Europe’s brightest midfield stars.
