Trevoh Chalobah could be heading for Serie A this summer after Como submitted an official offer for the Chelsea defender, while reigning champions Inter Milan are also considering a move for the England international.

The 26-year-old centre-back is currently away with England at the 2026 World Cup, but his club future is becoming one of the most intriguing transfer stories of the summer window.

Como make first move for Chalobah

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Como have already lodged an official bid for Chalobah as Cesc Fabregas looks to strengthen his squad ahead of a historic Champions League campaign.

The ambitious Serie A side are eager to add experience and leadership to their defence, with Chalobah emerging as one of their priority targets.

Chelsea are reportedly willing to listen to offers for the academy graduate despite his importance last season. Chalobah featured 47 times across all competitions and scored three Premier League goals, but the Blues are understood to be open to a sale as they continue reshaping their squad.

With his contract running until 2028, Chelsea remain in a strong negotiating position and are under no immediate pressure to sell.

Inter Milan monitoring situation

Como’s interest is not going unchallenged.

Serie A champions Inter Milan are also tracking Chalobah’s situation and could enter the race in the coming weeks.

The Nerazzurri are seeking defensive reinforcements with proven top-level experience, and Chalobah’s versatility, composure on the ball and Premier League pedigree have reportedly impressed Inter’s recruitment team.

Should Inter decide to formalise their interest, Chelsea could find themselves in a favourable position as competition for the defender’s signature intensifies.

For Chalobah, the prospect of joining the reigning Italian champions and competing for major honours could prove difficult to ignore.

European football could influence decision

One factor likely to play a major role in Chalobah’s decision is European competition.

Inter will enter next season as Serie A title holders and Champions League participants, while Como are preparing for their first-ever campaign in Europe’s elite competition after an extraordinary rise under Fabregas.

Chelsea, meanwhile, will not feature in Europe next season after finishing 10th in the Premier League, making a move abroad an increasingly attractive option for players seeking top-level continental football.

Tuchel still rates Chalobah highly

Despite uncertainty surrounding his club future, Chalobah remains highly regarded by England manager Thomas Tuchel.

The former Chelsea boss handed the defender a late call-up to England’s World Cup squad after Tino Livramento withdrew through injury, opting to select Chalobah ahead of more experienced alternatives, including Manchester United defender Harry Maguire.

While Chalobah has yet to feature in England’s opening matches against Croatia and Ghana, his inclusion highlights the trust Tuchel places in him.

With only one senior England cap to his name, regular football at a high level will be crucial if Chalobah hopes to cement his place in the national team setup beyond this tournament.

Transfer battle set to intensify

As things stand, Como have stolen an early march by submitting the first official proposal, but Inter’s interest means the race is far from settled.

With Chelsea open to negotiations and two ambitious Italian clubs circling, Chalobah’s future could become one of the most closely watched defensive transfer sagas of the summer.
