The Organising Committee of the 2026 Honourable Ajide/APC Unity Cup has announced a one-week extension of the registration deadline for the championship.
Speaking after a meeting held on Friday at the tournament secretariat in Surulere, the Chairman of the Organising Committee, Tajudeen Disu, said the extension became necessary following appeals from clubs and stakeholders across Lagos State who requested additional time to complete their registration.
Disu disclosed that the championship has already attracted about 125 clubs from the five divisions of Lagos State football, reflecting the growing interest in the competition.
He urged clubs that are still interested in participating to take advantage of the extension and complete their registration on or before Friday, June 12, 2026.
While thanking clubs that have already registered, Disu emphasized that registration for the championship remains free of charge. He explained that interested clubs only need to download the registration form from the tournament platform and complete the necessary documentation.
The former Nigeria international also revealed that the winners of the tournament will receive a cash prize of ₦1 million, while the runners-up will be awarded ₦500,000.
According to him, the championship is sponsored by the Honourable Tajudeen Ajide Foundation and is designed to mobilise and galvanise support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu deserves the support of all sportsmen and women because of the commitment his administration has shown towards the development of sports since he assumed office,” Disu said.
He further called on Nigerians to support the President’s vision for a greater and more prosperous nation.
