Vinicius Jr told what must happen before Real Madrid sanction shock transfer exit amid contract uncertainty

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has made it clear that Vinicius Jr’s future ultimately rests in the hands of the Brazilian forward as contract negotiations continue to stall.

The 25-year-old remains one of the club’s most important players, but delays in agreeing fresh terms have fuelled speculation that a sensational departure could become possible if an agreement cannot be reached.

Perez opens the door to a possible departure

Despite repeatedly expressing his desire to keep Vinicius at the Santiago Bernabeu for the remainder of his career, Perez admitted that Real Madrid would not force the player to stay against his wishes.

Speaking to El Pais, the veteran president stressed that the club’s relationship with Vinicius remains strong but acknowledged that any player determined to leave would be allowed to pursue a new challenge.

“There is time to sign an extension. I would love for him to stay for the rest of his life. He is deeply identified with the club.

“If he doesn’t want to be at Madrid and wants to sign with someone else, he will be free to do so. I’m not going to force him into anything. Money will not be the most important factor – it never has been.”

Contract talks continue

While Perez remains relaxed about the situation, Vinicius has previously suggested there is no urgency regarding a new agreement.

The Brazil international recently stated that there are still important discussions to be held with the club, particularly concerning his role within the squad and his long-term financial package.

Real Madrid continue to view the former Flamengo star as one of the pillars of their future project, but negotiations have become more delicate following the arrival of several high-profile stars and changes to the club’s wage structure.

Mbappe partnership questions dismissed

Perez also rejected claims that Vinicius and Kylian Mbappe are struggling to coexist on the pitch.

The pair have frequently been scrutinised by critics who believe their similar attacking profiles could create tactical complications, while reports of dressing-room tensions have also surfaced during the season.

The Real Madrid president dismissed those suggestions outright.

“I think it’s nonsense. They are the two best players in the world. Vinicius has won us two Champions Leagues.

“But we shouldn’t lose our minds either. This idea that you have to win the Champions League every single year is foolish; nobody else has won six in ten years.”

What happens next?

For now, all parties appear committed to finding a solution that keeps Vinicius in Madrid.

However, Perez’s comments have clarified one key point: Real Madrid will only consider a sale if the player himself decides he wants to leave.

Until then, the club remains hopeful that an agreement can be reached and that one of the world’s most exciting forwards will continue leading the line at the Bernabeu for years to come.
