Victor Osimhen in action for Galatasaray against Liverpool in the Champions League
Victor Osimhen delivered a strong performance for Galatasaray S.K. against Liverpool F.C. in their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 first-leg clash.
The Nigerian striker played a key role in Galatasaray’s 1-0 victory at RAMS Park, helping the Turkish side take a valuable advantage into the second leg at Anfield.
Osimhen was decisive throughout the match and provided the assist for the winning goal scored by Mario Lemina.
The Super Eagles star constantly troubled Liverpool’s defence with his pace, physicality, and movement, making life difficult for the Premier League side’s backline.
He even thought he had scored later in the game and celebrated passionately, but the goal was eventually ruled out for offside during the build-up.
Despite the disallowed goal, Osimhen remained one of the standout performers on the pitch.
For many football fans who do not regularly follow the Süper Lig, the Champions League provides a rare opportunity to watch Osimhen in action.
His display against Liverpool once again highlighted why he is considered one of Africa’s most dangerous strikers.
The 27-year-old repeatedly stretched the defence, pressed aggressively, and created attacking opportunities for his teammates.
Following the match, fans on social media began discussing Osimhen’s future.
Many supporters believe that a striker of his quality should be playing in one of Europe’s top five leagues, arguing that his prime years might be underutilised in Turkey.
Others, however, praised his impact at Galatasaray and pointed out that his performances in the Champions League continue to prove his world-class ability.
With Galatasaray taking a 1-0 advantage to Anfield, the second leg promises to be a thrilling encounter.
If Osimhen produces another influential performance, he could play a decisive role in helping Galatasaray eliminate Liverpool and advance further in the Champions League.
