Victor Osimhen in action for Galatasaray against Liverpool in the Champions League
Victor Osimhen has expressed deep gratitude to Galatasaray S.K. supporters after they unveiled an emotional tribute to him and his late mother during their UEFA Champions League clash with Liverpool F.C..
The Nigerian striker played the full match as Galatasaray secured a 1-0 victory at RAMS Park, delivering the assist that led to the winning goal.
Before kickoff, Galatasaray supporters unveiled a giant tifo dedicated to Osimhen’s late mother, creating one of the most touching moments of the night.
The choreography was organised by the club’s passionate fan groups and served as a tribute to the woman who played a major role in shaping Osimhen’s journey long before his rise to international football stardom.
As the massive display spread across the stands at RAMS Park, Osimhen was visibly emotional and struggled to hold back tears while watching the tribute.
Speaking after the match, Osimhen admitted that the moment deeply touched him.
The striker revealed that seeing the tribute brought back memories of his childhood and the sacrifices made by his mother.
“When I came out of the tunnel and saw the choreography, I was truly very moved,” Osimhen said.
“As you know, I was very young when I lost my mother. Seeing a gesture like this… we are a family.”
The Super Eagles striker also expressed how much the love from Galatasaray fans motivates him on the pitch.
According to Osimhen, the bond between him and the supporters makes him determined to give his all every time he wears the club’s shirt.
“This club, these fans mean so much to me. I’m very happy to be here. I’m so grateful to them for the love they’ve shown me.”
He added that their support inspires him to fight for the team in every match.
Osimhen also described his move to Galatasaray as something destined to happen.
“Crossing paths with Galatasaray was fate. This is destiny. It was written beforehand. I’m very happy to be here.”
The emotional moment came on a memorable night for Galatasaray, as they secured a crucial advantage ahead of the second leg at Anfield in the Champions League tie against Liverpool.
