Andy Robertson has opened up about interest from Tottenham Hotspur F.C. during the January transfer window, revealing he chose to remain at Liverpool F.C. because of his strong loyalty to the club.

The experienced left-back confirmed that discussions took place during the winter window but ultimately decided that staying at Anfield was the right choice.

Robertson Confirms Tottenham Interest

The 31-year-old defender admitted that Tottenham showed genuine interest in signing him earlier this year.

Speaking after Liverpool’s FA Cup victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C., Robertson revealed that talks occurred between both clubs before the move was eventually ruled out.

“There was obviously interest there—there were discussions had with both sets of clubs. But the decision was that I wanted to stay. We stayed at Liverpool and that was the decision made.”

Despite competition for his position following the arrival of Milos Kerkez, Robertson made it clear that leaving Liverpool was never something he seriously considered.

Loyalty To Liverpool Remains Strong

Robertson has been one of Liverpool’s most consistent performers since joining from Hull City A.F.C. in 2017.

During that time, he has helped the club win major honours including the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League.

The Scottish international stressed that his commitment to Liverpool has never changed.

“I’ve been committed to Liverpool for the last eight and a half or nine years now and I’ll be committed until I’m no longer needed.”

He also spoke about the deep bond he has formed with the club over the years.

“This club has given me everything and I’ve given this club everything.”

Transfer Talks Kept Private

Robertson declined to reveal further details about the negotiations, explaining that he wanted to respect Liverpool’s leadership.

He highlighted the importance of maintaining his relationship with key figures who brought him to the club, including Richard Hughes, Mike Gordon, and Michael Edwards.

According to Robertson, those discussions are best kept behind closed doors.

Future Still Uncertain

While Robertson remains focused on Liverpool, his contract is set to expire at the end of the season, leaving questions about his long-term future.

The defender acknowledged that a decision could soon be made.

“When a decision is made, and we’re getting to the point where I only have three months left on my contract, it will be announced.”

For now, Robertson says his focus remains firmly on helping Liverpool win more trophies and supporting the team both on the pitch and in training.

His message to fans is clear: his loyalty to Liverpool remains unwavering.
