Stanley Nwabali Open To Any Move After Chippa United Exit As Super Eagles Star Awaits Next Club
Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has confirmed he is open to joining any club following his departure from South African side Chippa United.
The 29-year-old recently became a free agent after mutually terminating his contract, bringing an end to a transformative four-year spell with the club. Nwabali’s reputation has grown significantly over the past two years, first at AFCON 2023 and then again at the 2025 edition, where his penalty heroics cemented his status as one of Nigeria’s most reliable goalkeepers.
Despite his rising profile across the continent, Nwabali has revealed that he is yet to receive a concrete offer since his surprise exit from Chippa United.
Nwabali open to all options
Speaking on Sports Nights Amplified with Andile Ncube, the Super Eagles shot-stopper made it clear that he is focused on finding the right sporting project rather than rushing into a decision.
“I can play anywhere I want to play; there is no restriction,” Nwabali said. “I am open to any club, local or international. Football deals with happiness, and my happiness comes first.”
The Nigerian goalkeeper has been linked with several clubs, including South African giants Kaizer Chiefs. International interest has also emerged from Moroccan side Raja Club Athletic, Saudi Arabian club Al-Ettifaq, a potential move to the Rwandan league, and English Championship outfit Queens Park Rangers.
A switch to QPR would mark Nwabali’s first taste of European football and represent a major step forward in his career.
No talks yet despite heavy speculation
Despite the growing rumours, Nwabali insists that formal negotiations have not yet begun.
“There are no calls yet. The only calls are from my family and friends and people who are shocked at the news,” he revealed.
Nwabali has consistently shown his quality in a Super Eagles shirt and may be eager to test himself in a more competitive league. However, with Maduka Okoye currently impressing at Udinese, the former Chippa United man will be hoping that a new club comes knocking sooner rather than later as he looks to secure his next challenge.
