Anthony Joshua Stops Jake Paul In Six Rounds As Boxing World Watches Surreal Mismatch
British heavyweight Anthony Joshua needed six rounds to stop boxing novice Jake Paul in what became one of the most striking mismatches in modern boxing history. The YouTuber-turned-boxer spent much of the contest in survival mode, frustrating Joshua until the champion finally imposed his power.
Joshua, a two-time world champion, cut an increasingly frustrated figure as Paul circled the ring, avoiding engagement. The breakthrough came in the fifth round when Joshua knocked Paul down twice, and a final, clean right hand in the sixth ended the surreal night at Miami’s Kaseya Center.
“It wasn’t the best performance,” Joshua admitted. “The end goal was to pin Jake Paul down and hurt him. It took a bit longer than expected, but the right hand finally found the destination.”
With the win, Joshua secured the 29th victory of his professional career in 33 bouts, keeping his focus on future legitimate challenges, including a potential showdown with Tyson Fury next year. He called out Fury after the fight: “Come and fight one of the realest fighters out there, step into there with me next if you’re a really bad boy.”
Paul, 28, failed to deliver on his promise of creating a major upset. While he landed a handful of shots, he spent most of the night retreating and playing to the crowd, drawing boos as he tried to survive. His bravado could not mask the damage inflicted by Joshua, and after the sixth-round knockout, he left the ring on his feet but visibly battered.

While the fight offered spectacle more than competition, it demonstrated Paul’s unmatched promotional power and Joshua’s patience and precision, reinforcing why both remain significant figures in the boxing world.
