Enzo Fernandez celebrating during a Premier League match for Chelsea
Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez has made a bold statement — the Blues are not just participating this season; they are firmly in the title conversation.
Despite sitting eighth on the table, Fernandez believes Chelsea’s performances, mentality, and squad strength place them shoulder to shoulder with Arsenal and Manchester City in the race for the Premier League crown.
Arsenal currently enjoy a five-point lead at the top, having lost only one of their first 13 games. Manchester City, Aston Villa, and Brighton follow closely behind in a tightly packed top five.
Yet, Fernandez remains confident.
“Of course we are title contenders,” he said. “This season, there are many contenders: Liverpool, Manchester City, and Manchester United. All the teams are battling towards the top. There are some very strong Premier League sides.”
For him, Chelsea deserve to be mentioned alongside the usual powerhouses — and their recent performances support that case.
Chelsea’s 1-1 draw against league leaders Arsenal was more than just a point earned — it was a message.
The Blues played nearly an hour with 10 men and still managed to hold their ground, showing grit and maturity that many believed had been missing in recent seasons. Fernandez sees this resilience as proof of how far the team has come under Enzo Maresca.
Next up, Chelsea travel to Leeds United on Wednesday night. With the top half of the table increasingly congested, every point matters as the season heads toward its midpoint.
A win at Elland Road could tighten the gap and strengthen Chelsea’s pursuit of the top spots.
